Just thought we could celebrate something equally as arbitrary as "New Years Day".
Posted by danisaacs at January 01, 2003 12:34 PM.. and a very merry unbirthday to you.

That we choose to Jan. 1st to signify a new year IS entirely arbitrary. The Winter Solstice, or Vernal Equinox would be reasonable days, based on events significant to the Human experience.
Of course, since these days have varying degrees of import depending on one's latitudal positioning, an arbitrary system is called for.
You're giving me more credit than deserved.. I just thought of Alice in Wonderland :)

Statistics prove, prove that you've one birthday,
one birthday ev'ry year.
But there are three hundred and sixty four
unbirthdays.
That is why we're gathered here to cheer.
A very merry unbirthday to you, to you.
A very merry unbirthday to you,
It's great to drink to someone and I guess that you will do.
A very merry unbirthday to you
