This is downright shameful. Never before have I relented in the face of a technology installation. Built networks from the ground up, data centers, complicated AV setups. I've run gas lines, wired buildings, and could probably still punch down a 66 block from memory if pressed.
But I'm not touching this CD Changer. Partly because I don't have time to waste if I can't do it. And it would take a few days of spare time to figure out if I indeed couldn't do it. I want it working for my roadtrip back to OH Sunday. So I'm taking it to a professional installer.
The whole thing is unnerving. I realize it's ultimately a business decision. I appraised the work, determined it would take me a lot of time, and decided to subcontract it out. But a part of me hurts for not doing it myself.
