Fantasy Draft #1

I'm in 2 leagues this year. One with some buddies, and one at work. Had the Buddies league draft tonight. I'm not joyous about it, but should be OK. I had the 9th draft position.

#1. Marvin Harrison, WR Indianapolis Colts
#2. Charlie Garner, RB oakland Raiders
#3. Antowain Smith, RB New England Patriots
#4. Koren Robinson, WR Seattle Seahawks
#5. Brett Favre, QB Green Bay Packers
#6. Joey Galloway, WR Dallas Cowboys
#7. Doug Jolley, TE Oakland Raiders
#8. John Carney, K New Orleans
#9. Drew Bledsoe, QB Buffalo Bills
#10 New England, DEF
#11 Josh Reed, WR Buffalo Bills
#12 Kevin Faulk, RB New England Patriots
#13 Kelly Holcomb, QB Cleveland Browns
#14 New York Giants, DEF
#15 Jason Hanson, K Detroit Lions

Just missed out on Jerry Porter in the 4th round. But other than that, I'm pleased. Good QBs, good WRs. Not crazy about my RB, but there just weren't too many around.

I picked up Wayne as a FA. I panicked with Smith, as all the RB I had in mind were snatched up, and didn't want to be stuck with nothing. There wasa K run inthe 8th, 5 picks before mine were all PK. I had to grab one then. And Carney is one of the best. The same was true of the TE. All the top ones were gone, and Jolley (as the 8th best rated TE) was a now or never option. Better to get a 40-50 catch TE than a 30rec one. Keep in mind that after the Big 3, all of the TE are mediocre.

I dropped Reed in favor of Wayne. I'll keep my eye on him, but I like Wayne as 3rd year big guy opposite Harrison. Reed is getting pushed by Bobby Shaw for PT anyway.

Two kickers are for bye weeks and unfavorbale matchups. When Carney is playing somewhere in the rain, Hansen will be in a dome.

I agree, the Smith pick was a huge mistake. I'm trying to move Bledsoe to pick up a #2 RB.
