Section 3

If ever there were a time in my life when I wished my job had an equivilant to section 3 of the 25th Amendment, it is now. I don't know if it's the drug I'm taking, the crappy weather, or the short-handed goal I allowed to FLA, but I just don't feel like I have my normal command of everything I'm involved in. At work in particular I can't seem to focus much on anything.

I can't wait for June to get here.

Sorry bout that. :)

For those that don't know how to copy and paste, Sec. 3 of the 25th Amen. outlines the protocol by which a President may temporarily give his authority to the VP (or Speaker if there is no VP) when he feels he is unable to carry out his duties. Generally this is only used when the President is very sick. Thre was a time when Cheney's authority was formal in additon to de facto, when W underwent a colonoscopy. It lasted about 3 hours.

Now, I don't have every section of every Amendment committed to memory. It just happened that West Wing this week invovled this provision of the 25th Amendment. So it was fresh in my mind.

And Findlaw has the nicest online Constitution, as a general place to start looking for this stuff.
