Shaving

When I got a new razor for Xmas that was waterproof, I started shaving in the shower. A few weeks ago, I went to shave, but had no shaving cream in the shower. So I improvised and used soap. I figured the principle was the same. Shaving cream is just a lubricant that reduces the friction of the blade/s against your skin. So I soaped up and let the Norelco do it's job. And it worked just as well, though requried a few extra seconds to rinse off the razor.

This morning, I decided to try it with one of my disposable razors, since I had gone a few days without shaving. And again, the soap proved just as effective as shaving cream.

Any other shavers out there do this? I'm thinking I'll never buy shaving cream again.

I haven't used shaving creen in years. Soap works just as well and tends not to irritate my skin.

I'm a mug and brush guy. My wife bought me a badger brush 2 years ago, talk about luxury. I hate the stuff in cans.

I've heard this works just as well from different people, but I've also had a couple friends come out with some really irritated faces from it. Soap does tend to dry the skin out more so you have to be careful with that, especially if your going to be spending alot of time outdoors. Personally, I'll stick with shaving cream. Not like I really need to shave every day anyways.

I have been shaving in the shower w/soap for years. It is easy on the razor burn. Occasionally when the beard gets long I break the shaving cream to help soften the hair some. Another point to mention is women have been shaving their legs in the shower with soap for a long time. If it works for them.....
