Dredd v UnixWiz

Derek Balling, Asshole Extradonaire (and I mean that in a very positive way, as anyone who knows me will attest to) and RFC-Ignorant.org Guru had a nice exhange with Steve (Hi Steve.), UnixWiz, about the effectiveness of RFC-Ignorant's practices. Go read it.

I see both sides, but tend to come out on Derek's side. There are rules. It's really not too much to ask they be followed. It is too much to ask that you be allowed to play if you fail to adhere to the rules.

Is it?

[edit] Kasia posts about her frustrations, too.

No, it's becuase you misquoted. :P

While I don't agree D should be so extreme in his personal blocking list, RFC-Ignorant does not actively block people. It collects information, and offers it to people that care. I think there were two arguments going there. One about RFC-I and one about Derek's personal server configs.

Actually, Derek's no longer blocking me.. since we had a heated argument via email last night.. his site does still blacklist all of SNET though.. It's not an effective tactic at all when dealing with regional providers.. there just aren't enough affected customers for snet to even notice..

More than anything the whole thing just left a bad taste in my mouth.. I'm not the one non-compliant but I'm the one being punished.. free market my ass.. not in CT :)

Yes, Brandt, I acknowledged and apologised. Mea Culpa.
