Run

Mark, the guy that lives on the other side of the highway from me, has an excellent post about running. Go read it.

What he fails to mention are blisters. And aches. Knees not bending so well in the morning. Back pains. Shin splints. 3AM Leg cramps. Rain. Colds. Hostile drivers. Dogs. Chaffing.

Of course, by that time, it's too late. You are a runner. You no longer need to watch the weather. Your knees will forcast it for you. Congrats.

Me? I'll rest my Runners World upon my belly as I lounge in my recliner. And laugh. A hearty belly laugh.

Shin splits & cramps can be eliminated with more calcium & vitamins..

Knee problems.. proper shoes (go to a small, specialized shoe store with an owner that will tell you what you need (everyone is different) not a mega humongous sports store with a 15 year old clerk who wouldn't know a running shoe from his ass)

Rain, dogs, hostile drivers.. you can always run on a treadmill.. admittedly not as much fun (unless you meet a cute runner of the opposite gender on the neighboring treadmill.. then it becomes more fun)

Chaffing.. you can actually buy nipple guards.. (I just use a sports bra.. but I'd imagine you would look funny in one.. at least in public.. )

I'd love to see Dan wearing nipple guards. :-)

Do you think fast food companies should be held liable for the adverse health effects associated with obesity???(in reference to the lawsuit agaist the top four fast food companies)

Um, I can't determine the context for the above comment, but I'll address it anyway. :)

If negligent behavior can be demonstrated, then yes, they should lose a civil case. If they falsified nutritional information or something like that, then I could see how liabilty would be determined.

Lacking that, this is absoutely frivilous. No reasonable person thinks that fast-food is good for you, and there is substantial medical research indicating a genetic predisposition towards obesity. McD's should be able to demonstrate they are not at fault.i
