Why I use Norton AV

Of course, the real reason is that it's what I got for free from work (a few "works" ago). the reason I will coninue to use it, and never ever use McAfee is because when i tired to update it, I was told I needed to use IE 5.5 or higher. Now, the irony of a AntiVirus/Security company telling me I HAD to use IE was just too much. I had to see if that was true, or if there was a workaround for users of a semi-secure web browser. So I clicked on the "Chat with a Supprt Technician" button, and had the following conversation:

Please wait while we find a technician to assist you...
You have been connected to Aaron Kelly.
Aaron Kelly: Daniel, thank you for contacting McAfee Online Support Center. How can I assist you with your McAfee software today?
Daniel: I'm trying to update my Virsuscan on my new Dell.
Daniel: but it says I have to use to IE
Daniel: I use Firefox
Daniel: Because IE is the reason I need Viruscan
Daniel: Do i really have to use it?
Aaron Kelly: Daniel, if I understand correctly, you have an issue in updating McAfee due to Internet Explorer. Is this correct?
Daniel: The issue is that you tell me i need to to use IE
Daniel: And I don't use IE
Daniel: So do i really HAVE to use it?
Aaron Kelly: Yes Daniel, McAfee recommends Internet Explorer version 6 as default browser and to resolve the issue, you need to make Internet Explorer 6 as your default browser.
Daniel: Reccomends, I understand
Daniel: But IE is insecure
Daniel: and there is no way in heck I'm going to make it my default
Daniel: I need to know if Firefox will work
Aaron Kelly: Sorry Daniel, McAfee is perfectly compatible with Internet Explorer version 6.
Daniel: I understand
Daniel: But I don't use IE
Aaron Kelly: You can make it your default browser just at the time of updation.
Daniel: So is it compatible with what I use?
Aaron Kelly: And then can make FireFox back your defaukt browser.
Daniel: Or, i can use a company that doesn't perptuate the use of a crappy, insecure application like IE
Daniel: Do you guys support Firefox, at all?
Daniel: yes or no
Daniel: NAV works just fine without IE
Daniel: do you?
Aaron Kelly: Sorry Daniel, we don't support FireFox.
Daniel: Ok. Then you won't have me as a customer
Daniel: Thanks for your time

So keep that in mind, folks. There is one company that won't support you if you refuse to use IE. It's McAfee. And I, for one, will be boycotting them until they change their minds.
