Amazon, Redux

As a postscript to the last post about my problems iwth UPS/Amazon: Amazon replied to the email in about 12 hours. They said a tracer would take too long, and would rather just send out another vacuum. If the other one showed up, we could just not accept the new one. The other one never showed up, and we got the new one today. In all, we were delayed about a week.

Amazon didn't really let me down. But I really don't like that I can't call someone to resolve these situations. As it was, a whole day was wasted, when 10 minutes on the phone could have gotten me the same result. I'm sure the costs are much better for Amazon. Hell, I've seen what phone bills look like, I KNOW it's better for them. But I've been conditioned for bitching over the phone, and adapting will take some time.

UPS and Amazon

Grrr.

Kristi bought a Hoover SteamVac from Amazon/Target.com. Target didn't have this model in their stores, and neither did any other local seller of such things. So we bought it from Target.com (which is operated by Amazon). Paid $23 for UPS ground.

Well, Wednesday morning, UPS tracking shows it out for delivery, which the 842* other times we've had things shipped via UPS ground meant we could expect it to be delivered that day. Well, nearly three whole business days later, we still don't have it. UPS.com tracking indicates it's been on some guys truck for three days.

No problem, you're probably thinking. Just call UPS and ask what the fuck is up. Very well. We do that. And UPS tells us that Amazon "has instructed" them to refer all shipping inquiries from Amazon customers to Amazon. This kinda pisses me off, and I ask why the hell I can't put a tracer on something that is being shipped to me, me being the most interested party in all of this. To which I'm told 'Sorry sir. We can't do anything, it's shipped under Amazon's account, and inquiries must go through them'.

I'm stunned at this. It's on a fucking UPS truck. Now I'm being told I have to send email to Amazon (yes, email. The largest e-tailer on the planet doesn't seem to have a customer service phone number) so THEY can tell UPS to put a tracer on the package to find out where it is? What the hell? That will add at least 24 hours, maybe 72 hours, since this is a Friday afternoon.

Is that customer service?

It's snowing

Check the webcam for current pics. Took some with the camera, but haven't uploaded them yet. 1, maybe 2 inches. Looks like it might acrtually stay until Monday. :)

If you drive a 3,500 pound 4WD SUV, and commute from Apex/Holly Springs/Fuquay-Varina to RTP: Fuck you. You little pussies. Your behemoth can go more than 20mph on a wet road. You make me sick. I was doing 45mph easy in my little front wheel drive Grand Am. Until I got behind you. Thanks for wasting 20 minutes of my life. Assholes.
